Thirsty Messiah has become a must-visit for craft beer lovers around the Hunter. And while beer is its foundation, The Messiah is pouring up a whole lot more than just the amber ale.
Across the 40 taps you’ll find on the bar you’ll also find a rotating lineup of house-made seltzers, sours and innovative cocktails ensuring that there is always something exciting and unexpected to tryโฆ Even if you’re not a beer lover.
This ever-evolving rage of beer alternatives is probably the venue’s best-kept secret because on any given week you’ll find everything from light, effervescent drinks to robust, experimental flavours making it a destination for anyone looking to explore new beverages, not just beer lovers.
“We have found that the people in Newcastle like a bit of choice,” Thirsty Messiah owner and chief beverage chef Thomas Delgatto said.
“I donโt like being constrained by standard beers.”
The ethos here is about creativity but also offering people the freedom to sip on anything from a German-style lager to a fresh, house-made cocktail.
This beverage diversity is supported by the breweryโs state-of-the-art setup, featuring a 10-hectolitre brewhouse system. But itโs not about technology, it’s the spirit of experimentation. With the ability to brew small batches on pilot systems, the brewers can test new recipes and flavours which allows them to constantly refresh the taps with novel drinks that push the boundaries of whatโs expected in a brewery.
In addition to the beverages, Thirsty is serving up some seriously great food out of their kitchen run by one of Newcastleโs top chefs. Couple that with some great live music, comfortable seating, and plenty of screens to watch the big game on, and you can see why it’s becoming home-base for so many locals looking for a night out in the suburbs.
You can find Thirsty Messiah just down the road from McDonald’s in Broadmeadow at 140 Lambton Road. To check out the tap list and read the menu visit thirstymessiah.com.au.
