Five-time Olympic Gold Medalist Ian Thorpe will be in Newcastle this weekend to help usher in the start of the summer swim season.
Yep, that’s right.
Both Lambton and Wallsend pools will be hosting free pool parties this Sunday 8 December and Thorpie himself will be on hand to sign autographs and take happy snaps and who knows, youug and coming swimmers may even get a tip or two from the Australian sporting legend.
The family-friendly Hello Summer community events will also feature heaps of activities for the kids including face painting and jumping castles as well as special offers and prizes to be won.
So if you’re looking to make a splash this summer, kick the season of in style on Sunday 8 December at Lambton and Wallsend Pools from 1pm to 4pm (both venues).
Ian Thorpe will be at Wallsend Pool from 1pm to 1.45pm before heading over to Lambton from 2pm to 2.45pm.
