You’d be forgiven for doing a double-take as you made your way past Civic Park over the weekend. The bright neon lights of the Maho Magic Bar are really a sight to behold.
Setting Civic Park ablaze like a happy snap of Shinjuku is not the only trick Maho Magic Bar has conjured since taking up residence in Newcastle either.
Broad Encounters Director, Kirsten Siddle, says the bar has been booked solid since opening its doors last Thursday.
“Novocastrians love great entertainment and have flocked to our crazy night-out in Tokyo,” Kirsten said.
“Seeing close-up magic really does inspire awe, and the fun, energy and personalities of our master Japanese magicians take it to the next level!”
The bespoke and gorgeously refined pop-up bar, sitting alongside The Spiegeltent for its 2022 season, is home to five consummate master magicians who perform close-up magic shows directly at the table for visitors.
Couple that with some amazing cocktails, Japanese beer and sake and you’ve got yourself an unforgettable, multi-sensory and interactive experience unlike anything else we’ve ever seen in Newcastle before.
With a sold-out opening weekend under their belts, Maho Magic Bar has now confirmed an extended season and will perform shows in Civic Park next to The Spiegeltent through to Sunday 1 May. Visit eventbrite.com.au for tickets.
