It’s the runaway gaming juggernaut that boats a player base of more than 4.5 million people.
And this week, Fortnite will play host to one of the biggest pop stars on earth, Ariana Grande, who will hit the virtual road in the colourful gaming world for a virtual tour.
Yep, you heard right.
While marquee gigs are off the cards for the time being thankfully COVID hasn’t permeated digital landscapes, so Ariana hitmaker is headlining the Fortnite Rift Tour that will see the Seven Rings hitmaker’s digital avatar perform five shows from Saturday 7 August to Monday 9 August.
According to Fortnite publisher Epic Games, the Rift Tour will “begin with experiences that pair popular tracks with moments based on elements from the game. Players will be able to travel side by side with their friends on a journey to magical new realities where Fortnite and Ariana collide.”
“Working with Epic and the Fortnite team to bring my music to life inside the game has been so fun and such an honour,” Ariana said in a statement.
“I can’t wait to join my fans and see all of your reactions to such an unforgettable, magical journey to new realities.”
Epic Games head of brand Phil Rampulla added: “With the Rift Tour, we’re bringing a musical journey to life that players can experience, feel, and join alongside their friends.
“We’re so grateful to have an iconic superstar like Ariana Grande and her team join us for a musical experience at metaverse scale, and for players and fans alike to experience the Rift Tour!”
It’s not the first time that the free-to-play game has welcomed high profile musos with the likes of Travis Scott, Deadmau5 and Marshmellow previously showing up in-game.

Show 1 – Saturday 7 August – 8am (AEST)
Show 2 – Sunday 8 August – 4am (AEST)
Show 3 – Sunday 8 August – 2pm (AEST)
Show 4 – Monday 9 August – 12am (AEST)
Show 5 – Monday 9 August – 8am
