Newcastle punk band Dead Mall have announced their debut album SUPERLIMINAL, out 21 August, and will drop its hard-hitting title track tomorrow—an explosive, melody-forward single that dives into media influence and fractured relationships.

After a two-year release hiatus, the new single marks their second of the year, following February’s GASOLINE.

Together, the two tracks reveal a sonic shift for the band, one that leans into a genre-blending mix of alt-rock, nu-metal, hip hop, and electronica, all without losing the hardcore punch they built their name on.

Recorded and mixed by guitarist Darcy Long, the 11-track album is entirely DIY—crafted, engineered, and refined in-house.

With its mix of sharp riffs and melodic hooks, SUPERLIMINAL has the energy of a late-night LAN party, with enough grit and distortion to land it on any Tony Hawk Pro Skater or Burnout soundtrack.

The title track is a standout, bursting with quick-fire, drop-tuned riffs and rapid vocal hooks that mirror its themes of manipulation and anxiety.

It digs into how media exploits fear, warps relationships, and fuels division—all while sounding like it was made to be blasted at full volume from the top of a half-pipe.

Alongside the track, Dead Mall have released a cinematic, high-energy video directed by frequent collaborator Nikola Jokanovic.

The clip features sharp visual cues inspired by lyrics like “pulling teeth” and “cut ties,” and captures the chaos and intensity of the track with low-flying planes and kinetic camera work.

With strong support from triple j, RRR, FBi, and other tastemaker press, Dead Mall are poised for a breakthrough year.

Dead Mall will play a string of shows this winter, including a stacked mini-festival called Full On Arvo at Hamilton Station Hotel on the June long weekend alongside Cry Club, Jen Buxton, Bad Neighbour and more. Get your tickets here.
