Quite simply, Mother’s Ruin is the show you didn’t know you needed in your life, and you missed it when it played inside The Spiegeltent set up in Newcastle’s Civic Park last night… Don’t let that happen again.
This is a show for the time – a kick arse, take no prisoners, based on fact tale about women and gin. And it’s honestly the best thing I’ve seen all year.
Libby Wood and Maeve Marsden were pitch perfect and their harmonies and timing absolutely on point throughout the 60-minute ride. Highlights of the show included a stunning performance of Sia’s Chandelier and a heart-achingly beautiful acapella of The Pretenders Hhymn To Her.
But in all honesty, the best thing about this cabaret is Wood and Marsden. The duo is world class and side-splittingly funny.

#PROTIP: Most of you missed Mother’s Ruin last night, and let that be a lesson to you. Blanc de Blanc may be the marquee show for The Spiegeltent’s 2018 season in Newcastle, but it’s not the only thing on the bill. And maybe that’s where the gold is to be found inside the tent this year – In the touring cabaret, comedy, music and dance shows playing before the main event each night.
