ABANDON SHIP: The Rum Diary closes its doors on Hunter Street

The Rum Diary has officially closed its Hunter Street venue.

“We’ve had a good run but unfortunately it’s time to close the doors permanently on the Rum Dairy Newcastle,” a statement on The Rum Diary Bar Newcastle account Instagram reads.

“We know that this space will eventually be turned into something fresh and thriving in the future but for now…Thanks for the memories.”

The bar opened to much fanfare three years ago when the tipple titans behind Melbourne’s original Rum Diary Bar took over the space once inhabited by the Terrace Bar.

With a menu boasting a huge array of rums from around the world, a hefty selection of cocktails and Caribbean-inspired fare, The Rum Diary quickly became a must-visit for locals looking for a small bar vibe.

You can leave a farewell message for the bar on their Instagram account.
