Monopoly players can now buy, sell and trade iconic Maitland locations thanks to the release of a Maitland-themed edition of the classic game.

Launched today by Mayor Philip Penfold the game swaps out classic locations like Pall Mall and Mayfair for local spots and attractions.

From the rural charm of Tocal to the vibrant lifestyle precinct of The Levee, and the historic Walka Water Works, players will navigate through familiar spots, with the chance of even landing in the confines of historic Maitland Gaol.

“Itโ€™s only fitting that Maitland as one of NSWโ€™s fastest growing regional cities has its own version of Monopoly that celebrates our rich history, heritage and culture,” Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold said.

“Maitland is a fantastic place to live, work and play โ€“ and fun initiatives like this spotlight our landmarks and lifestyle including our lively arts community, colourful events calendar, burgeoning culinary scene and boutique accommodation options.

“This edition is a great keepsake for locals and visitors as it retains all the beloved elements of the traditional game, with the added charm that comes from capturing Maitlandโ€™s riverside locale and historic locations.”

With its inception dating back to 1935, Monopoly has solidified its place as a beloved classic in pop culture, gracing countless household board game collections worldwide. Now, residents and visitors alike can enjoy a localized twist on this timeless game with Maitland Monopoly.

Maitland Monopoly is now available for purchase at select locations including the Maitland Visitor Information Centre, Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Maitland Gaol, and through the MyMaitland website.
