WINTERHEAT: Flames, Fire, and Neon Delight this July

Newcastle’s beloved Winterheat Festival is back, promising to light up Pacific Park in a grand celebration of its 20th year.

The inaugural festival took place in 2004 as a modest community-focused event in Civic Park. And what started as an initiative to draw people into Newcastle has grown into one of the city’s most enduring festivals.

This year’s theme, Flames, Fire, and Neon Delight, will honour the event’s rich history and embrace new and electrifying festival elements. The fusion promises to create a mesmerizing spectacle with neon lights, LED panel displays, and vivid projections alongside the fire sculptures and performances.

Director Zackari Watt from Fingers Crossed Creative Ltd and fire curator Gerard Wilson of Wiltech PA Systems are back on board for the 2024 event alongside a team of local vendors, artists, service providers, and businesses.

Collaborative creative partners Curious Legends will bring their massive giant puppet and lantern spectacle Luminous Creatures to the event and local production wizards, Equip Multimedia will also be on hand, providing a dazzling array of fire cannons throughout the event site.

The 2024 Winterheat Festival will take over Pacific Park in Newcastle on Saturday 27 July. Check out our guide of what to expect from below and visit for more details.
