New local festival Wicking Out! has announced the first acts for their inagural lineup – pulling acts from across cities and countries into the suburb of Wickham.
Headlining the first lineup announcement is the double shot of Carb On Carb and Prizegiving. Two acts from New Zealand coming to Australia to deliver their respective brands of heartfelt alternative rock.
Carb On Carb released their debut EP back in 2012, and since then have offered up multiple releases while touring everywhere from China to Australia – with some US dates penciled in for the end of the year. The band recently announced an extended visit to Australia, which will include Wicking Out!
Prizegiving released their debut album No Harm Done in mid-2016. Their appearance at the festival is part of their debut trip to Australia – and is sure to win over a bunch of new fans. The lineup also features Emo/Shoegaze outfit Snape from Sydney, and local act Vacations – who were featured on triple j Unearthed this week.
Wicking Out! is a new multi-venue festival experience presented by No-Fi Records. Stretching eleven acts out across three locations – the festival makes a toast to the vitality of independent culture, while also celebrating the creative spaces around the Wickham area.
The DIY festival will feature acts from Newcastle, New Zealand, Brisbane, and Sydney. Tickets to the event, which cover all three shows, are only $5 – with all proceeds going directly to the performers.
