Kevin Mitchell will hit the stage at Bartholomew’s in October as part of his national, When Kev Met Bob, anthology concert tour.

The show will see Mitchell combine songs from the Jebediah back catalogue with cuts from his Bob Evans albums in a retrospective that is sure to be quite the trip down memory lane.

It’s the first time in his career that the Aussie artist has brought together his roles as Jebediah frontman and Bob Evans.

“Itโ€™s a little scary,” Mitchell said.

“For nearly 30 years I have kept my solo music and my Jebediah music separate, and that has been a very deliberate decision that was also an important one to me.

“I think I have reached the point now however where that separation has done its job. So I suppose it feels a little freeing and exciting to step into a new phase now; The Kevin Evans years!”

The Bob Evans sound, distinct from alt-rock Jebediah, always leaned towards an acoustic style as heard on 2003’s Suburban Kid and more recently on 2021’s Tomorrowland.

The show at Bartholomew’s in October will play out over two sets beginning with material from the โ€˜90s and โ€˜00s, and moving into the Bob Evans years.

โ€œFor me, personally, I think it will just be nice to finally present all this music I have written on one stage.

“There’s a lot there when you combine it all together, and it’s very much my adult life laid bare in song. The earliest songs Iโ€™ll be playing were written when I was 17, and the most recent is from my early 40s.”

Kevin Mitchell plays Bartholomew’s in Newcastle on 26 October. Tickets are on sale now at bartholomews.com.au.
