Since opening in 2010, Darby Street’s 5 Sawyers has become a true icon of Newcastle’s small bar scene.
Their new Wednesday evening lineup of live music, $10 cocktails, $10 pints of 4 Pines and $1 wings kicks off tonight, 8 December, and promises to be the cure for your midweek blues.
The 5 Sawyers food philosophy is to use fresh, in-season and local ingredients and their Wednesday wings are no exception especially when they’re washed down with a pint of4 Pines from the tap or a cheeky hump day cocktail fix for just $10.
Some of Newcastle’s favourite musicians will be on stage for Wingin’ It Wednesdays too. Tonight, 8 December, loop master and Locally Made and Played feature artist, Bobby C will be entertaining the showing the 5 Sawyers crowd why he’s one of the regions most loved entertainers.
Bobby’s mega-medley is something to be experienced as he throws a stack of mega-hits played non-stop over a full set. His playlist covers t artists like Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Jason Mraz to quintessential classics from Creedence, Van Morrison and Neil Diamond.
Wednesday, 15 December, sees the distinctive voice of folk musician Bree Rusev take to the stage.
Bree picked up the guitar for the first time at age 14. Her music is inspired by artists including Dean Lewis, Ben Howard and Ziggy Alberts and her debut singles Coastline and Drift revived national radio airplay and picked up a number of national songwriting awards.
But besides all that, it’s $1 wings on a Wednesday… And who doesn’t need that in their lives?
