English rock icons The Animals are heading to Newcastle this October for one last howl, bringing their Final Curtain Australian tour to Flamingos in October.

With a career spanning more than six decades, The Animals helped define the gritty edge of 1960s rock with a sound that fused blues, R&B, and raw rock’n’roll.

Their legacy is packed with era-defining hits, including We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood, Boom Boom, It’s My Life, and the timeless classic House of the Rising Sun.

The Newcastle show will be a rare chance for fans to hear those legendary tracks live, one last time, as the band prepares to bid farewell to Australian audiences.

For fans who grew up with their music and younger generations discovering it anew, this performance promises to be both a celebration and a send-off.

Original drummer and founding member John Steel remains behind the kit, driving the band’s signature sound and spirit on what’s being billed as their final bow on Australian soil.

He describes Australia as a “second home” for the band — a sentiment that will no doubt be echoed by local audiences keen to say goodbye.

The gig at Flamingos marks the beginning of a 17-date national tour taking The Animals across the country, from Brisbane to Ballarat and everywhere in between. But for Novocastrians, 23 October will be their one and only chance to witness rock royalty on home turf.

The Animals will kick off their Final Curtain Australian tour here in Newcastle at Flamingos on Thursday, 23 October 2025. Pre-sale tickets go live on Wednesday 28 May at 10am, with general tickets available from Friday 30 May at 10am via Metropolis Touring.
