Hunter Drama is set to captivate local theatre-goers with a thrilling production of the iconic radio play, The War Of The Worlds.

The original Orsen Wells audio production, which shocked listeners back in 1938, will be brought to life on stage in Newcastle by 14 talented young performers from the Hunter region who will voice the characters.

Over the 60-minute performance, the cast will be accompanied by four dedicated foley artists, who will create the live sound effects

Behind the scenes, Hunter Drama has assembled a creative team to bring the magic of the original 1930s broadcast into the modern era.

James Chapman, Program Director of Hunter Drama and an experienced director, will lead the production with Assistant Director Grace McLaughlin and multi-award-winning technical manager, Jacob Harwood.

The Hunter Drama season of The War Of The Worlds will be held at the Civic Playhouse and run for three nights from Thursday 3 August. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online at civictheatrenewcastle.com.au or in person at the box office. For more information, visit hunterdrama.com.au.
