Hang on to your hats fans of ’90s rock!
That’s because three of the biggest names of that era – Live, Bush and Stone Temple Pilots are heading to Foreshore Park next April to headline the 2020 iteration of the Under The Southern Stars festival!
That’s right and if that wasn’t enough, this massive bill also includes Australian rock and roll icons Rose Tattoo and Melbourne rockers Electric Mary!
It’s going to be a big one for Live who are celebrating 25 years of their iconic Throwing Copper album, featuring the massive tracks I Alone, Delling The Drama and Lightning Crashes.
That album received a heck of a lot of love in Oz, being certified eight times platinum.
Frontman Ed Kowalczyk departed the band in 2009 to work on solo projects but eventually returned to the fold in 2017 much to the delight of fans everywhere.
With tracks like Glycerine, Everything Zen and Comedown on high rotation in this country UK rockers Bush need little introduction.
Their breakthrough album Sixteen Stone dominated the Aussie charts – spending 42 weeks in the top 50a, Gavin Rosdale and co went on hiatus from 2011 and 2011 but have since released a trio of albums and have another on the slate for later this year.
The band also contributed the track Bullet Holes to the Keanu Reeves blockbuster John Wick 3: Parabellum.
When Stone Temple Pilots’ sophomore record Purple dropped, it catapulted the Californian grunge rockers to superstardom.
And for good reason, with tracks like Vasoline, Interstate Love Song, Pretty Penny and Big Empty.
While original frontman Scott Weiland sadly passed away in 2015, the band are still going strong thanks to new lead singer Jeff Gutt who gives his vocal talents to the band’s 2018 release Stone Temple Pilots.
When you’ve got Australia’s original rock and roll outlaws, Rose Tattoo, on a bill you know things are going to get wild.
If you saw the band rip through their recent set at The Cambridge, you’d know that they’ve still got it especially frontman Angry Anderson who at a sprightly 72 years still brings more rock and roll swagger than many singers half his age!
Meanwhile, Melbourne rockers Electric Mary who have opened for the likes of Judas Priest, Kiss, Deep Purple, and Motorhead will kick things off in true rock and roll fashion.
But wait! There’s more!
This year’s Under the Southern Stars is going to be about more than a great day of music, with the addition of the Under The Southern Stars Village.
Punters will be able to enjoy the fantastic line-up along with a host of installations and carnival rides, market stalls (selling everything from vintage clothes, music and lifestyle products), and an array of awesome food vendors.
