In an effort to kickstart new industry in the Hunter, The NSW Government is calling for proposals to repurpose a 52-hectare BHP site in Newcastle.

Registrations of Interest are being sought to transform the former steelworks site with innovative new uses, providing a boost for employment and the local economy. This comes after the NSW Government rejected offers from Port of Newcastle to buy the land, which would provide purpose-built access and egress points to their $2 billion terminal development.

Ross Cadell from Port of Newcastle and Newcastle MP Tim Crakanthorp joined Tracy Mac on today’s Newcastle in the Morning to discuss the issue.
