SKY HIGH: Experience Newcastle from the open cockpit of a Tiger Month

Did you know you could check out the coastline of Newcastle from an open cockpit flying high in a Tiger Moth? Neither did we, but we totally want to try it out!

The Royal Newcastle Aero Club, based out of Rutherford, offer Tiger Moth Scenic Joy Flights Wednesday to Sunday, weather permitting, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

During each one-hour joy flight in the skillfully restored DH-82 Tiger Moth, you’ll take in the amazing views of the Lower Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie and Newcastle Beaches.

Flights include a full safety briefing and helmet and goggles. You’ll need to wear closed in shoes and warm clothing and during winter a thick jacket is recommended.

You also need to be under 105kg to fly.

The Aero Club also offers scenic flights for up to 3 people around the Hunter Valley, over Newcastle, or up to Port Stephens. You can even plan your own adventure with flights tailored to individual requests.

You can find out more about the Tiger Moth Scenic Joy Flights by visiting the Royal Newcastle Aero Club’s website.
