Red dresses, wild dancing and plenty of Kate Bush magic will return to King Edward Park when Newcastle celebrates the 10th anniversary of The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever this August.
Hundreds of “Kates” are expected to descend on the clifftop park on Sunday 2 August, recreating the iconic choreography from Kate Bush’s Wuthering Heights in one of Newcastle’s most colourful and joy-filled annual events.
The community flash mob is part of a global celebration inspired by Shambush in the UK and the worldwide event concept launched by Sam Wareing in Berlin.
The Newcastle edition has become a much-loved tradition, welcoming participants of all ages and experience levels to don flowing red dresses and embrace the theatrical fun.
Whether you’re a lifelong Kate Bush fan or simply keen to join the spectacle, the event is all about celebrating music, creativity and community with plenty of laughter along the way.
Beyond the dancing, the annual gathering also raises money for a worthy cause.
This year’s event will support Warlga Ngurra Refuge, continuing a tradition of fundraising for women’s charities while bringing the community together for a uniquely Newcastle celebration.
Participants will gather from 11.30am for warm-ups, a walkthrough of the famous dance moves and a practice run before the main performance gets underway at 12.30pm.
Organisers have also planned a special indoor dress rehearsal ahead of the event, with details to be announced. If wet weather strikes, the mass dance will instead take place on Sunday 9 August, with a backup indoor space also available if required.
The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever takes place at King Edward Park on Sunday 2 August 2026, with a 12pm start. For updates, including dress rehearsal details and wet weather information, visit the event’s Facebook page.
