What’s The Osman up to this week? We’re glad you asked. Here’s his weekly Newcastle Live post…
This Wednesday Night on Ossie And Friends, we will be having a chat on the phone with Sarah McLeod, courtesy of Golden Robot Records, Social Family Records and Music Solutions Warners Bay. Sarah is regarded as one of Australiaโs most talented and versatile artists. Sarah McLeodโs successful career began in the late 90โs as the lead singer/guitarist and primary songwriter for three times ARIA Award-winning rock band The Superjesus. Since then, Sarah has enjoyed a soaring solo career and has collaborated with other artists around the World.
As well as reforming The Superjesus, who enjoyed a series of sold out โShe Who Rocksโ Tour dates in 2015, Sarah was nominated for โFrontman/Woman of the Yearโ in the Triple M Rockies Awards amidst heavyweights Dave Grohl and Jimmy Barnes, proving that she is a musical force to be reckoned with.
This July and August sees Sarah once again hitting the road, this time for a series of up close and personal solo shows for her โAlone & Unplugged Tour, which features acoustic versions of songs from Sarahโs repertoire that have defined her journey so far. These songs are also available on her Alone & Unplugged album which has just been released, however, at this stage, fans can only get a copy at the upcoming solo shows.
Local fans have that opportunity, Sarah McLeod brings her Alone & Unplugged Tour to the beautiful Lizotteโs in Newcastle this Thursday Night. A fantastic venue with fine food for an up close and personal performance from the wonderful Sarah McLeod.
Guests in the studio tonight will be Lake Macquarie โYoung Gunsโ Smacked Youth. This young band was formed in January 2015 and has undergone a few changes, however, now have settled as a 3 piece alternative rock band, hailing from the Lake Macquarie/Newcastle area. Sam DโAgostino is on lead vocals and guitar, Adrian Smith on drums and Noah Tynan on bass and backing vocals. The boys have a couple of tracks available on Triple J Unearthed, Hole and their newly released single, Drown. We will play those tracks for you tonight and chat with the lads about their music and hopefully twist their arms to play a couple of acoustic tracks for us.
Budgewoi muso, Jye Sharp also joins us live in the studio, brought to you by VIBES at The Coast Hotel Budgewoi. Jye is a common figure around the busking scene at the northern end of the Central Coast and into the Lake Macquarie area. Since a very young age Jye has had a passion for music, he is only 19 years of age, however, plays and sings with a maturity beyond his year. Jye recently supported Jackson at The Stag and is a first choice for many artists as their support. To see Jye perform is something to behold. This young fellow works the guitar, using every part of it, with strong vocals and a powerful physical appearance, really creates a great stage presence.
Jye is very excited about his new debut EP, The Weeping Tree. Jye will be playing some of the songs from the EP as well as a couple of others.
Jye is also performing at VIBES at The Coast Hotel on Thursday Night. You will be able to witness his outstanding performance and maybe pick up a copy of his EP.
I am also looking forward to a phone chat with Hunter Adams, singer/songwriter from Sydney, Hunter has released an new single Fool Of Me from her EP Chrysalis. This young lady has a beautiful voice and has written some lovely songs. We will have a chat about Hunterโs music and where to from her for her, talk about her EP and we will hear her single, Fool Of Me.

Something very special is happening this weekend. Itโs that time of the month when the Monthly Music Jam rocks the house at Music Solutions at Warners Bay. Dai Pritchard (Billy Thorpe/Rose Tattoo) is joined by Ben Travis and many others for a fun-filled arvo of musicians coming together and just jam. All musos and instruments are invited, itโs at Music Solutions, 5/305 Hillsborough Road Warners Bay. Just bring your instrument and a gold coin for a donation to a charity. If you just wish to come and have a look and listen, just a gold coin donation for entry, which goes to charity. Great work Dai, Ben and the team at Music Solutions Warners Bay. This gets underway at 2pm.
VIBES at The Coast Hotel Budgewoi Thursday Night 6.30pm, 3 bands, FREE and patrons can go into the draw to win a Fender Strat Guitar.
The Vdubs are at The Jewels Tavern this Friday night from 8.30pm.
