THE LARAMIE PROJECT: A poignant story of a true-life tragedy

Young Peoples Theatre is kicking off the year with The Laramie Project, a powerful production that promises to stir emotions and spark important conversations.

It’s a poignant story of a true-life tragedy, presented by Lindsay Street Players and directed by a queer-identifying team,

The docudrama, written by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project, delves into the aftermath of the 1998 murder of university student Matthew Shepard, a brutal hate crime that shook the nation and fueled the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights.

A cast of just 13 performers will bring to life over 70 characters during the immersive production which is set in the heart of Laramie in Wyoming.

The story follows the community as they grapple with the aftermath of tragedy.

The Laramie Project runs from 16 February until 2 March at Young Peoples Theatre in Hamilton. Tickets are available for purchase at
