The IKEA pop-up is coming to Newcastle

Dixon Park Beach will play host to a special international guest tomorrow.

IKEA, Sweden’s multinational furniture company, will set up its bright yellow telephone box at the popular coastal spot to demonstrate how residents in regional areas can access IKEA’s range of products and services without entering one of their physical stores.

The eye-catching yellow phone box, set to arrive in Newcastle on Thursday, 27 June, will feature a tablet mounted inside, offering a direct line to IKEA’s customer service centre.

Visitors stepping into the booth will have the opportunity to explore IKEA’s remote shopping channel, where they can place orders directly or book virtual face-to-face appointments for personalized assistance, such as kitchen design consultations.

“We know customers love the unique experience of coming to a physical IKEA store, but we also know that especially for our customers living in a regional city or town around Australia, it’s often not practical to visit us in person,” Selling Manager for IKEA Australia Remote Customer Meeting Point, Gary Cocks said.

“By introducing remote shopping, we want to create the experience of having the home furnishing expertise IKEA is known and loved for on-hand for our customers regardless of where they are in Australia.

“Many of our customers are unaware of our remote shopping offer, so the phone booth is a great way to raise awareness of the many ways to shop with IKEA.

The introduction of the remote shopping telephone box at Dixon Park Beach is part of IKEA’s broader strategy to integrate various shopping channels into a seamless customer experience. By offering remote shopping options alongside physical stores and online platforms, IKEA aims to provide flexible and convenient solutions tailored to individual preferences. IKEA also offers a range of delivery options for products ordered through remote shopping. Delivery to the door starts at just $29, with the option for delivery into the home available from $49.
