This weekend the Hunter will be crawling with bargain Hunters looking for treasure as part of the first weekend of the annual Garage Sale Trail.
Locals looking to turn their clutter into cash can register to host a sale over one or both weekends and get hints and tips on how to host a successful garage sale using the initiative’s free how-to guides, sale tips and readymade promotional materials.
Shoppers, on the other hand, will be able to search for where to find the best bargains using the online Garage Sale Trail map.
This year, Garage Sale Trail anticipates there will be up to 500,000 Australians selling and shopping secondhand, with up to 15,000 garage sales and three million preloved items listed nationally.
The biggest secondhand treasure hunt in the country will see 15,000 garage sales take place over the two weekends with three million preloved items expected to be up for grabs.
“Joining or shopping the trail, whether youโre participating for just one day or all four, is a simple and fun way to make or save a buck and keep quality, usable items out of landfill,” Maitland City Council Manager for Environment and Sustainability, Catherine Pepper said.
“Choosing to reuse plays a big part in reducing the amount of waste we create into the future, so we encourage everyone to get involved in the Garage Sale Trail and begin building sustainable practices into your daily life.”
The annual Garage Sale Trail is happening on 9โ10 and 16โ17 November 2024. You can find out more, register your own sales, or see where sales are taking place by visiting garagesaletrail.com.au.
