Four of Australia’s most loved vocalists will come together to perform The BeatlesWhite Album live at Civic Theatre this September.

Chris Cheney from The Living End, Phil Jamieson from Grinspoon, You Am I’s Tim Rogers and ARIA Award-winning solo artist Josh Pyke will perform the iconic album from start to finish backed by a 17-piece rock orchestra, led by musical director Rex Goh.

The show will capture something The Beatles never did – play the White Album live.

“That’s the other cool thing about this project,” Chris Cheney said.

“You can’t go on YouTube and look up The Beatles playing anything off the White Album because they just didn’t.”

Released on November 22, 1968, The White Album is a 30-song journey that opens with Paul McCartney’s iconic Back In The U.S.S.R and concludes with Ringo Starr’s heartfelt rendition of Good Night.

This legendary album includes timeless classics like Helter Skelter, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Blackbird, Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?, Glass Onion, Birthday, and Revolution 1.

“It’s such a diverse record,” Josh Pyke said.

“And it was kind of an experimental record for them at the time. It’s hard to sum it up and I think that’s the beauty of the record and why so many people love it. It is hard to put it in a box.”

“Musically and lyrically it’s iconoclastic,” Tim Rogers adds.

The White Album Concert will hit the stage at the Civic Theatre in Newcastle on Friday, 15 September. Pre-sale kicks off on 4 July and general on sale from 8 July. Visit whitealbumconcert.com for more information.
