Tropical Fuckstorm have announced a show at The Cambridge Hotel on Friday, May 4th (or May The Fourth Be With You, for all you nerds).

The band are hitting the road for the first time in Australia to celebrate the release of their debut album โ€˜A Laughing Death In Meatspaceโ€™ which comes out in the aptly named TFS Records, also on May 4th.

Tropical Fuckstorm is the new project from Gareth Liddiard; an Australian alternative music legend who has always sat on the forefront of underground music. Primarily through The Drones.

The band also featured Drones bassist Fiona Kitschin, Erica Dunn from Harmony and MOD CON, and Newcastle drummer Lauren Hammel; who as played in bands such as High Tension, Like…Alaska, Fear Like Us, and Crosscheck.

Tropical Fuckstorm havenโ€™t done anything by half measures. The band formed last year and immediately traveled to North America for six shows with Band Of Horses, and seven with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

In the lead up to their debut album, the band have released four limited edition seven inches; each one containing a new song on the a-side, and a cover of an Australian classic on the B-side; taking on songs like โ€˜Back To The Wallโ€™ and โ€œStayinโ€™ Aliveโ€™

Tropical Fuckstorm make their debut in Newcastle this Friday at The Cambridge Hotel. Melbourne post-rock outfit Fourteen Nights At Sea (featuring Like…Alaskaโ€™s Amy Muir), and local two-piece Hey Lady! Tickets are on sale now.
