So, in case you weren’t aware, this Sunday is International Taco Day. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, Mexian fast foodery Taco Bell has taken the unique step of removing the shell from the iconic creation.
Yep, that’s right! From Sunday 4 October in fact. you can pick yourself up a Naked Chicken Taco for a limited time.
Kind of like the monstrous KFC Double Down (that saw the fillets become the bun), this creation eschews the ubiquitous taco shell crunch, leaving the chicken to do the talking.
What you get here is a seasoned chicken breast, fried and fashioned into a taco shell. This “U” of chook is then filled with ranch sauce, fresh lettuce, tomato and tasty cheese.

The taco itself will set you back $7.95, or you can bung meal for $12.95 with chips, a drink, and a dessert.
In other International Taco Day news, if you head into Taco Bell on Sunday 4 October, and grab any taco, you’ll nab yourself a pair of funky taco socks! Yep, taco socks! But, while stocks last, of course, and it’s a one pair per transaction deal.
Taco Bell is located at Shop 60, Stockland Jesmond Shopping Centre.
