This morning Sushi Koo took to their Facebook page to announce that they will close the shutters on their Hunter Street Mall outlet for the last time tomorrow.
If you’re a fan, you should head in tomorrow to say a little goodbye.
You can read the statement and see the post below.
“Tomorrow will be the last day we open the doors of Sushi Koo in Newcastle Mall. For over 12 years we have served up fresh sushi, and we are so sad to have to say this is our last week.
We want to thank all of our wonderful customers who have supported us – we know there are some of you who have been coming since the first year we opened. Thank you to the local community of business owners and their staff – who we have worked alongside and share a love for this unique pocket of Newcastle. And we want to thank all of our wonderful staff – who worked at the little hut in the mall, rain, hail or shine.
It is an irony that it is the ‘revitalisation’ of Newcastle that has made us have to close our doors. The impact of the light rail construction, and the redevelopment of the old David Jones site, has made it impossible for us to continue trading. We desperately wish we could stay, but simply cannot.
Happily we have our 2 other stores – Sushi Koo at Marketown and Sushi Koo at The Junction, and we hope you all continue to visit us there as much as ever. We plan to focus all our energies on these two stores, and are expanding our exciting hot food options at The Junction. We are also on the lookout for the next possible Sushi Koo site – watch this space.
Thank you for all your support – please feel free to share this post. And while it is sad we have to leave the mall, know that Sushi Koo is here to stay”.
