A Newcastle resident got the shock of her life when she realised her $1,000 Saturday Lotto win was actually $1 million.
“I first thought it was only $1,000 – I didn’t look at all the commas,” the anonymous winner said.
The actual win was $1,012,896.39!
In a candid conversation with officials from The Lott, the official home of Australia’s lotteries, the winner said she had to call her sister to help her read it properly.
“What’s funny is I don’t normally play Saturday Lotto, but I just decided to in the last couple of weeks,” she said.
“I’m just in shock. I can’t believe it. It’s always been a dream to win. This will completely change my life – put it that way!
“I’ve probably only slept two hours! I keep thinking I have to pinch myself!”
So, kids, the moral of the story is… We’re not sure, but we’re stoked for the winner.
