Have you been looking for a song that will help define the soundtrack of this current COVID-19 crisis? Well it may have just arrived and from a very unlikely source. The Wiggles.
The iconic Aussie kids’ entertainment juggernaut has just released a new single, aimed squarely at making the little ones feel a little bit more at ease in these uncertain times.
Called Social Distancing, the song bubbles with the same Wiggly effervescence that made this outfit one of the most beloved kids’ acts in the world, despite dealing with such sobering subject matter as a global pandemic and all of the new rules and regulations we should all now be following.
The tune takes a pro-active approach to the new social distancing regime opening with the lines:“Why can’t I go to Nana’s place? / We’re staying at home to keep Nana safe/Oh what can we do to make her feel better? / Let’s video call her or write a letter!”

Also, how can you pass up the line: “When you wash the germs to zero/You become a handwashing hero.”
The Wiggles’ commitment to cleanliness was also made evident recently when a song they produced for UNICEF last October for Global Handwashing Day – the aptly titled Handwashing Song gaining major traction in the current climate.
Apparently there are plans in the works to re-record the track in a variety of languages including Italian, Mandarin and Arabic.
The original Wiggles also released the similarly titled Wash Your Hands bask in 2010.
Social Distancing is available to stream or download through Spotify or Apple Music now.
