SPEAK UP: High school music competition now open

Young singer-songwriters are being encouraged to share their gift as part of the 2022 Speak Up competition.

High school students aged 12 to 18 years are eligible to enter as a soloist, duo, small group or band.

Entries will be presented to an online panel of music industry professionals with the top 10 performances competing in a live final for prizes including studio time, music equipment, multiple prizes and industry engagement opportunities.

The competition hopes to raise over $3000 for the Australian mental health and wellbeing support organisation, Beyond Blue.

Entries will be assessed for vocal performance and technique, creativity, lyrics and melody, instrumental and arrangement.

Organisers of the competition say their aim is to provide a platform for young people to express themselves through original music and support them in fostering and nurturing a career in the music industry.

The online nature of the competition allows kids from remote, regional areas the exposure and recognition to audiences and music industry mentors they could not get anywhere else.

Entries close Friday 4th March 2022. To enter all you need to do is submit a video of your performance via berryjammusic.com/speak-up-competition/.
