Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon returns for 30th anniversary

The Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon will celebrate its 30th edition in Newcastle this week with a variety of races kicking off at Camp Shortland.

This year will see the return of the sprint distance triathlon, and introduce a new race for Junior competitors designed to inspire the next generation of triathletes.

Swim legs of the races will be staged from Horseshoe Beach.

“This will allow an M-shaped swim for the main events and a ‘shore’ swim for 7-11 years,” Event Director Paul Humphreys said.

Over the years the Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon has become a celebration of health, fitness, and community spirit with local businesses getting involved as a healthy way to get the team together for Christmas.

The event is open to anyone who can complete the course as an individual or as a three-person relay team.
