Husky Gawenda, Dan Kelly, Charm of Finches, Hannah Cameron, Stephen Grady, and Dan Challis will hit Newcastle next year as part of the Songs From The Canyon tour.
The celebrated show pays tribute to the influential artists who called Laurel Canyon home in the 1960s and ’70s with an ensemble of performers who will transport live music lovers back to a golden age in music.
Featuring songs by iconic artists like Joni Mitchell, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Mamas & The Papas, and The Byrds the show will have you singing along to songs like California Dreaming, Mr. Tambourine Man, God Only Knows, and Love the One Youโre With.
“Laurel Canyon was a wellspring of near-perfect songs and golden harmonies that still resonate today. Bringing this to life with Melbourne’s best folk artists is like the fulfilment of a dream,” Husky Gawenda said.
Nestled in the Hollywood Hills, Laurel Canyon was more than just a neighbourhood; it was a cultural epicentre where artists gathered to create in a time marked by counterculture and anti-war sentiment.
This secluded enclave became a wellspring for collaboration and musical experimentation, with songwriters like Neil Young, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell famously jamming late into the night, often sharing songs and crafting harmonies in each otherโs homes.
Songs From The Canyon will hit the stage at Civic Theatre Newcastle on Saturday, 10 May 2025. Visit songsfromthecanyon.com for tickets.
