Showtime Kayaking has marked a major milestone on Lake Macquarie, completing its 200th night kayak tour while also celebrating a Bronze win at the NSW Tourism Awards.
The landmark tour took place on Friday, December 12, with guests and guides pausing on the shoreline to acknowledge the moment with a low-key celebration and custom cupcakes marking the achievement.
Reaching 200 tours is a significant step for the locally operated business, which is still in just its second year of operation!
The celebration follows closely on the heels of recognition at the NSW Tourism Awards in late November, where Showtime Kayaking claimed Bronze in the highly competitive Ecotourism category.
The award placed the Lake Macquarie operator among twelve finalists from across the state, highlighting its growing profile within the tourism sector.
At the core of the recognition is a strong focus on sustainability and education. Showtime Kayaking embeds environmental awareness into every tour through its partnership with Take 3 for the Sea, encouraging guests to take simple actions to reduce plastic pollution and protect local waterways.
Environmental credentials are also built into the nightly operation of the tours. LED-lit clear kayaks are powered by rechargeable batteries, which are charged using solar panels mounted on the company’s kayak trailer, reducing reliance on traditional power sources and lowering the overall environmental footprint.
Showtime Kayaking’s night kayak tours operate regularly on Lake Macquarie, offering a family-friendly, low-impact way to experience the lake after dark. Bookings and tour details are available via showtimekayaking.com.au.
