Shark Dive is set to bring the ocean to the stage at Performance Arts Culture Cessnock this April, delivering an immersive underwater adventure for families and young audiences.
Created by the internationally recognised theatre innovators at Erth Visual & Physical Inc., the production blends world-class puppetry, theatrical staging and marine science to transport children into the mysterious world of the deep.
The live show aims to ignite curiosity while offering a rare chance to come face-to-face with incredibly lifelike shark puppets and a colourful cast of ocean creatures.
Shark Dive takes audiences below the surface, introducing them to some of Australia’s most iconic sea life. With a focus on interactivity, the performance shares fun and surprising facts about sharks, ocean ecosystems and the crucial role apex predators play in keeping marine environments healthy and in balance.
Beyond the spectacle, the show hopes to shift long-held perspectives by replacing fear with fascination. Through engaging storytelling and impressive artistry, it encourages children to appreciate sharks not as threats, but as extraordinary animals vital to the survival of the ocean.
Audiences can expect exquisite puppetry, transformative staging and a journey through both ancient ocean dwellers and modern-day species. The experience is designed for families, young explorers and anyone eager to learn more about the world beneath the waves.
Erth’s Shark Dive Live on Stage will be performed at PACC on Wednesday, 15 April, with two showings at 10.30am and 12.30pm. Recommended for ages five and up, the show includes fog and loud sound effects. With limited dates across NSW, early booking is encouraged via the PACC website.
