Shakespeare Under the Stars returns to Newcastle in December

After a sold-out season last year, Shakespeare Under the Stars will return to Newcastle this December.

Whale Chorus, the people behind the outdoor theatre experience, will present an enchanting adaption of A Midsummer Night’s Dream set in the Pacific Park amongst the iconic fig trees.

“We were wrapped with the response to our first season last summer. People came away glowing. We had a really broad range of the community attend, from experienced theatre-goers to people who had never been to the theatre before,” Director Janie Gibson said.

“The show sold out before we opened the season, so we’re bringing it back. Next year we will be back with a new play, and our Shakespeare Under the Stars will be an annual event in Newcastle.”

One of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a tale of four young lovers and a group of amateur actors who venture into the forest and find themselves immersed in the unpredictable world of fairies.

Shakespeare Under the Stars will take over Pacific Park, 14 – 17 December 2023. For more information and tickets visit civictheatrenewcastle.com.au.
