I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I’ve been a fan of Rachel Maria Cox’s work, aka RMC for a whole bunch of time. On Saturday evening, they gathered up a delightful handful of musos, to help them celebrate the launch of their latest single – Emotionally Untidy. It felt so warm, lovely and exactly what this introverted fan needed to fill the live music void in my life.

Jo Neugebauer surprised the Newy contingent by making the journey from Melbourne to our fair town, to both break and heal our hearts with their music, and I am forever thankful. Walking into the Cambridge to see and hear Jo play, made my heart sing and kicked off the evening in just the right note.

Everyone’s favourite son, Yev Kassem, did what he does best and laid out an incredible string of stripped back tunes, treating fans to his own brand of straight shooting songwriting and performing. I care for him, and his music very very much.

If you are yet to hear of a band called Good Pash, please take a moment to immediately rectify this. They are pretty much the speakeasy equivalent of a band, but if you can catch them live, it’s a very very lucky day for you indeed. Playing, and paying homage to messy punk, the four piece from Sydney flipping killed it. The crowd at the Cambo last night were treated to their first out of town performance, and were incredibly lucky indeed. Brash, unapologetic, proper punk. Because sometimes all you need is a good pash.

Now. RMC is an absolute master of many trades. I’ve seen them play solo and acoustically, with simply a guitar or keyboard, but I’ve also seen their full band outfit, featuring many key players from the Newcastle Scene. RMC launched their single with an absolute bang, and of course, tucked delightfully into their back catalogue as well. I will say this, RMC is an absolute force on stage, and commands the crowd with both elegance and gusto and I was absolutely impressed.

RMC’s album is ready, waiting, and set to drop into our laps and ears towards the end of the year, so stay tuned.
