The Cambridge Hotel’s renovations are still ongoing, but every visit is a new improvement. Everything looks a lot cleaner and put together, not to mention a seriously impressive sound system has been installed into the main room. The room is a great improvement.
The Delta Lions opened proceedings this evening, as the crowd were making their way inside. The band have gone through a reinvention as of late, with a new setlist and attitude. Latest single ‘Old Bones’ is a set highlight, and those in attendence were appreciative of this set from The Delta Lions 2.0
Speaking of reinventions, Safe Hands were here to support PUP, but to also celebrate the release of their sophmore album Tie Your Soul To Mine. The set was exclusively tracks from the new release, and tied with their intense and passionate performance, won over many new fans. With a set that was a sharp as a scapel, and a precise as a surgeon, they blasted through the majority of their new album in what was an amazing set. A tough act to follow.
People started to really pack up the front as the last band was setting up. Opening with the one two punch of ‘If This Tour Doesn’t Kill You I Will’ and ‘DVP’, PUP waste no time in whipping the crowd into a frenzy.
With two albums full of furious punk songs, the Canadian Punks had no problem packing tracks into their set. With a great mix of songs from both albums, the band must have been a quarter of the way through their set before they took a moment to catch their breath.
The intensity of the set rarely let up; ‘Pine Point’ is by PUP standards, a ballad. But they still attacked it with all the energy of any other song. The crowd were all in too, either singing their lungs out, or climbing over each other with a fury of crowdsurfers making their way over the barrier.
“Encores are dumb” Stefan announces as the band take the stage for a final song, he leaves his guitar on the floor to deliver a version of ‘Old Wounds’ that could have levelled The Cambo to the floor. The band quickly said their goodbyes, leaving punters to pick up the pieces.
