REDISCOVER YOUR CITY: Live comedy at The Happy Wombat & a nightcap from The Koutetsu

Two sensational Newcastle venues, right in the heart of Hunter Street. And what better week to visit them both!

With the Newcastle Comedy Festival kicking off this week, The Happy Wombat will play host to a set of seriously funny shows featuring Sam Taunton, Becky Lucas and Nina Oyama.

But The Happy Wombat is much more than a host for shows, it is a brew lovers paradise. Their tap selection is no laughing matter, it’s constantly revolving and always features a glorious range of crafty stuff.

To give you a taste of what’s on, this week you can whet your whistle with Moon Dog Brewing’s Splice of Heaven and the Earl of Swirl raspberry wonder from Counter Culture.

And where to head after a few beers and many laughs? Why The Koutetsu of course.

Chris and the team at this cozy and cool small bar will welcome you with open arms and deft hands. They introduced us to The Clover Club cocktail and we have not looked back.

Fancy a drink at home on the couch, these guys do takeaway too.

Plus, The Koutetsu have been added to the ‘rewards’ available on the Lean in Newy app. Meaning you can do something kind for the local community and be rewarded in cocktails. Win-win!
