Local music producer, Pizza Dates has gone viral with one of his tracks racking up over 2.3 million plays on video-sharing social network Tik Tok.
The 22-year-old’s Novocastrian says he never thought his track Reeses’s Puffs would be the one to launch his music to a worldwide audience.
“It’s funny, the song that got kinda big wasn’t even supposed to be released. It was just a joke. But now because people on Tik Tok started using my song it’s the main catalyst driving my career,” he said.
Pizza Dates is now capitalising on all this attention by releasing a self-produced 6 track mixtape called Al Dente.
“My goal with this project is to show people that I’m much more than this one viralish song. This new mixtape has some of the best songs I’ve made. It’s very exciting to finally prove I’m really about this”.
The release, dropping on 27 August, is the culmination of two years worth of production by the local artist and features seven tracks stacked full of moody analogue sounds and glitchy beats.
“Al Dente is a project that’s based around the feeling of living life perfectly in the middle. Like the way pasta is cooked, Al dente”.
