Newcastle grunge trio PIT will take over South Newcastle Beach Skatepark this weekend, delivering a free all-ages show fuelled by raw 90s energy, local pride, and their new single Needed You.
The three-piece, Hamish Sanders, Korby Essex and Bailey Parker, have been rapidly building momentum across the city, carving out a reputation as one of Newcastle’s most exciting emerging acts.
Their relentless gig schedule and unapologetically gritty sound have sparked attention well beyond the local scene, with national outlets calling them leaders in a fresh wave of Newcastle-born grunge.
Their latest single, Needed You, released on 24 October, is just the start of what promises to be PIT’s biggest year yet. The band is gearing up for a packed rollout of new tracks, videos, tours and the arrival of their debut EP Repeat, set to land early next year.
Saturday’s surprise show doubles as a celebration of the growing support behind the new single. Set against the backdrop of the coastline at South Newcastle Beach, the gig aims to bring together skaters, fans and curious newcomers for an afternoon drenched in distortion, energy and the unmistakable Newcastle edge that defines the band.
Exclusive merch will also be available on the day, with the group hinting at special items aimed at both the skate and music communities.
With the city’s live scene thriving and PIT gaining steam, the skatepark setting feels like the perfect place for the trio to showcase the raw, DIY spirit driving their rise.
PIT will takeover the South Newcastle Beach Skatepark for a free all-ages show at 1pm on Saturday, 29 November. You can find out more via our gig guide.
