One of Australia’s greatest songwriters, Paul Dempsey will hit the stage at Dashville next year as part of the lineup for the Gum Ball 2023.
The Something For Kate frontman leads the second lineup announcement which also includes Canadian rock band The Sheepdogs, songwriter Ainslie Wills, Brisbane jazz sextet First Beige, West Australian old-school psych rockers Datura4 and Melbourne punk trio Cable Ties.
Paul Dempsey first stepped out on his own and released a solo album back in 2009. Everything is True was embraced not only by Something For Kate fans but also found the enigmatic singer-songwriter a new audience. Since then Paul’s solo shows have gone on to become legendary affairs and are always a highlight of any festival lineup.
Local acts Ben Leece & Left Of The Dial and Saylor & The Flavor have also been added to the already stacked lineup and will no doubt perform must-see sets during the festival.
Today’s second lineup drop comes on the back of last month’s announcement which included American punk band, Mudhoney, with a third and final lineup announcement still to come early next year.
It’s been nine years since the seminal Seattle four-piece has played in the Hunter. Their headline slot at Gum Ball is part of a mammoth tour over April and May that will see them headline shows across six states.
And with their next studio offering set for release in 2023 – it’s going to be one hell of a year for Mudhoney fans.
The Gum Ball returns to Dashville in Lower Belford from 2 pm Friday, 12 April 21 and runs all the way through to Monday, 24 April 2023. Tickets are on sale now at dashville.com.au.
