After Covid wiped live music off the map in 2020, it’s great to see that one of the most loved band comps in the country, Passport to Airlie is back for 2022.

Billed as “Australia’s largest live original music competition”, Passport to Airlie is now seeking applications from bands wanting to battle it out in the hunter region leg of the competition to be held at the Wickham Park Hotel from Thursday 11 August.

Acts that are accepted will perform in one of four scheduled heats. Winners of the heat will move onto one of two semi-finals before the cream of the crop battle it out in the Grand Final on Thursday 22 September.

The band that wins the Hunter competition will be flown to Airlie Beach to compete in the final of Passport to Airlie, at the Airlie Beach Festival Of Music with all the other regional winners.

Grand final prizes for the Passport to Airlie competition include four nights of accommodation, VIP Main Tent Passes, A spot on Music View TV and a $1000 Performance Fee for a gig on the festival’s main stage the following year.
