The release of a new Smiths chips flavour has reignited an age-old debate. Is it Parmi or Parma?
Smiths’ new chicken parmigiana flavoured crinkle cut chips have been released under the name Chicken Parmi… And it has caused sections of the internet to go into total meltdown.
Many people argue that because the full word is parmigiana – there should be no debate. The slag, they say, should be parma.
But back in 2020, a survey conducted by Arnott’s revealed that 45% of Australians prefer to use the word Parmi, over 34% who like to say Parma.
But does that make it right?
And don’t even start us on the pub in Queensland that put an ad in a newspaper last year calling their parmigiana a ‘Parmie’.
