THE OSMAN: Musicians Making A Difference, DV8 and more…

This week’s program, Ossie And Friends (Lake Macquarie FM 97.3 Wednesday 6pm till 9pm) is proudly sponsored by VIBES Australia which is held at The Coast Hotel at Budgewoi each Thursday Night.

First up this week, brought to you by MUSIC SOLUTIONS WARNERS BAY, is KALANI ARTIS. Kalani Artis is more than just an upcoming talent, he is fast becoming known as one of the most sought after performers on the Central Coast and beyond. At the age of only 15, Kalani is performing regular shows as a working musician, displaying a professionalism way beyond his years. He has also performed at the Ettalong Buskathon and many festivals and has also jammed with Bliss from Blissnesso.

Kalani also volunteers as a mentor at Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) at Gosford, putting something into the Community, even though he is so young himself.

Kalani also collaborates with many other local artists such as Jake Howden and Luke Mahler.

Kalani will be performing at the G.O.A.T.S. Festival at San Remo on Sunday the 1st April, a huge event with over 100 young musos performing on the day, kicking off Youth Week. He will be performing for us “live” in the studio playing percussion guitar this Wednesday Night.

A very special guest will be via the telephone tonight will be Jackie Dee, an independent alternative country singer-songwriter, brought to you by Cardiff Golf Driving Range, Cardiff. Jackie has released her new single, CONTEMPLATING LIFE and launched her album, SIX STRING HEART, last Friday Night on the South Coast.

Jackie’s music is her therapy, her escape and her tonic all rolled into one. We will hear about her life in music and play her latest single, CONTEMPLATING LIFE.

ICONIC Newcastle Band, DV8, is set to launch its DV8-“Live” DVD. The huge event will be celebrated at Belmont 16’s, where 30 years ago the band played two sell-out nights in a row as they farewelled the Newcastle Music Scene, calling it their “break-up” concert.

Now, 30 years later, yes, 30 years, DV8 returns to the scene of the crime, the 16’s, for one huge gig on Saturday the 1st April. The “break-up” gigs were both sold out and the event was filmed for prosterity, that recoding now re-mastered and on DVD.

GREG BRYCE left Australia for 5 years following those gigs, however, he returned and the band, DV8, reformed in 2000 and are still performing plenty of gigs locally. They even have a new album out “LIKE IT ON TOP”, which contains a cracker of a track, “ROCK ‘N’ ROLL TOWN”, somewhat of a tribute to the “live” music scene in Newcastle back in the day.

GREG BRYCE will join us on the phone for a chat about DV8 and the DVD/Album and gig. We will also play some tracks from the new album. Greg’s chat is brought to you by Music Solutions at Warners Bay.

To wrap up the program, The Crawfish Stew Band joins us “live” in the studio. This three-piece band pumps out Southern Rock/Country Rock/Blues which is showcased on their brand new debut album, ONCOMING TIDE.

The band was formed on the Central Coast in 2014 with the band’s name and style coming about due to the love of Blues and Southern Rock by frontman, Todd Stewart. Todd was also a Grand Finalist in the Toyota Starmaker a few years ago, he has a mean set of pipes on him and he is backed up by Shaun McCready on bass and Gerard “DOKKO” Payne on drums.

The boys will join us to play a few tunes and chat about their music. If you would like to catch them over the upcoming weekend, Friday Night they are at The Royal Hotel Wyong, Saturday Night at The Lakes Hotel The Entrance and on Sunday, The Catho Pub from 2pm, playing a bunch of pub favourites, blues, rock and a few from their album, ONCOMING TIDE.
