Orchid lovers from across the Hunter region are in for a treat as the Maitland & Coalfields District Orchid Society (MCDOS) gears up for its Annual Autumn Show.

With a history spanning over 70 years, MCDOS has been a pillar of the local horticultural community, fostering a love for orchid growing and education.

These sessions have provided both beginners and seasoned growers with the knowledge and support needed to enhance their gardening skills.

The upcoming Autumn Show will not only showcase breathtaking orchid displays but also provide an opportunity for attendees to purchase a variety of orchid plants, along with essential supplies such as bark, labels, and fertiliser.

Experienced growers will be available throughout the event to offer expert advice on plant care and maintenance, ensuring that both newcomers and longtime enthusiasts leave with valuable tips and tricks.

Beyond the love of orchids, MCDOS is deeply committed to fostering community connections. By hosting events at local scout and church halls, the society aims to give back to the community, both financially and emotionally, through its vibrant floral exhibitions.

Visitors to the Autumn Show can also try their luck with orchid raffles, offering the chance to take home a unique and beautifully cultivated plant.

The event will take place on Saturday, 26 April, and Sunday, 27 April, 2025, at the Cessnock Scout Hall, 245 Maitland Road, Cessnock. Doors will be open from 9 AM to 3 PM each day, inviting visitors to explore a stunning display of vibrant orchids and other plant varieties.
