ON TOUR: The Australian Ballet heads to Newcastle

Get ready to plié and pirouette because The Australian Ballet is coming to Newcastle.

They will perform two shows at the Civic Theatre later this year as part of the company’s regional tour which aims to bring world-class ballet to audiences outside capital cities.

The show will see classic ballet like The Sleeping Beauty Act III and George Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante performed by some of the best dancers in the business.

Through its touring, education, and outreach programs, The Australian Ballet is on a mission to ensure that the joy of ballet reaches every corner of the country.

“Through our On Tour program, we strive to touch the hearts and minds of as many people as possible and we’re delighted to continue The Australian Ballet’s long-standing tradition of presenting unforgettable ballet experiences to communities far and wide,” Artistic Director David Hallberg said

“This year’s On Tour repertoire is an exhilarating showcase of classical elegance and modernity that showcases the technical prowess of both the Company’s dancers and graduating students at The Australian Ballet School.”

Beyond the classics, the company will also perform contemporary pieces like Circle Electric: Prologue, a groundbreaking new work by resident Choreographer Stephanie Lake.

The Australian Ballet will take over the Civic Theatre Newcastle for two shows on Saturday 13 July. For tickets and more information visit australianballet.com.au.
