ON THE ROAD: Orange you glad you came?

Yes friends, it’s that time of the week again where you switch off, kick back and relax, and dream of the weekend.

With that in mind, here’s the next instalment in our latest series – On The Road, where we explore all of the amazing places this great country of ours has to offer and redefine the mini-break weekend.

If you’re looking to escape this weekend, why not head to… Orange? Set a mere five hours away from our neck of the woods, Orange is a pocket of beautiful country.

Think rolling hills, country hospitality, but a vibe that’s buzzing and vibrant. A place which hits the perfect balance balanced between the old and the new.

Where do I stay? It’s just a country town right?

This is where you’re wrong, friends. Yes Orange has the charm of a country town, but it’s much bigger, brighter, and more boutique than you’d ever expect, especially if you choose to stay at Nashdale Lane.

Nashdale Lane, located about 15 minutes out of town, and offers visitors a luxury glamping accomodation experience. Oh and did we mention it’s set on one of the most beautiful wineries you’ll ever see?

With acres of uninterrupted sunset, award-winning wines, and nothing but time (and the comfiest king bed you’ll ever sleep in) what more could you ever need?

Owner/operators Nick and Tanya have taken the time and effort to make your time at Nashdale Lane, a once in a lifetime experience.
You literally feel like you’re sleeping under the stars, but with the added advantage of a beautiful bathroom, full kitchen, patio and electric blankets, the word camping doesn’t even cross your mind. If it’s luxury you’re after, put this place on your list immediately.

They also have a cellar door which operates at various times, seven days a week, providing lucky guests with an intimate tasting experience and a selection of delicious gourmet platters.

Where can I go to drink? Only hard liquor satisfies my thirst!

As beautiful, wonderful, award-winning, and stunning the wineries are in Orange, sometimes only hard liquor will do.

Which is exactly why Washington and Co is a staple around town. Great cocktails, cozy corners, and décor to die for, the folks at Washington and Co are sure to have something to fulfil even your deepest and darkest liquor orientated desires.

Yeah, but what else is there to do?

Apart from relaxing and enjoying a well-deserved mini break, like we said, Orange has some beautiful countryside and if you’re ready and willing to drive a little further, you won’t be disappointed.

Mount Canobolas is one of the highest points along the great dividing range and the view (and the fresh air) is definitely worth it.
As a side note/fun fact, Orange has one of the last remaining dine-in Pizza Huts and if that’s not a reason to leave Newcastle for a week/weekend then we don’t know what is!

So, there you have it! Stay tuned for next week’s instalment of our On The Road series and as always, if you have any recommendations let us know and we will make it happen!
