Following on from the launch of its online platform earlier this year, Newcastle institution, The Olive Tree Market, is continuing its staunch support of local creatives with a massive virtual Christmas market this weekend.

Kicking off on Saturday 28 November at 9am, the market is a showcase of the brilliant collective of artists, designers, makers and foodies from Newcastle and beyond!

It’s also THE perfect opportunity to knock off your Christmas shopping in one fell swoop, safe in the knowledge that you’re doing your bit to shop local and creative this festive season – all without the need to get out of your pyjamas!

“Each purchase means you are supporting local artists and championing creative talent, and that you will be contributing to the local creative economy in a year which the creative industries have been one of the most impacted groups,” Olive Tree founder Justine Gaudry said.

You’re going to be spoiled for choice, come Saturday, too with Indigenous fashion and homewares from Saretta Fielding, handcrafted ceramics by Leiluca Ceramics, bespoke jewellery from Emma Field, gorgeous screen-printed linen homewares by Maya Muse Textiles, quirky Christmas cards by illustrator Beau Wylie, and abstract art by Hannah Simonovich.

And that’s just a mere glimpse of what’s on offer.

As an added bonus, there will also be Maker Q & A sessions running in Facebook Live throughout the day courtesy of Dalton Baker Productions founders Renee and Angela who have worked with some of Australia’s biggest design enterprises as well as international online creative marketplace Etsy.

These sessions are a great opportunity to learn what inspires some of your favourite local artists and designers, as well as well-known creatives from around the country.

If you’re keen to get a bit of a sneak peek at what will be on offer on the day give Olive Tree’s Instagram and Facebook pages a follow and make a note of the stuff you love because the virtual market will also offer a fantastic array of special offers and market-day discounts.
