Free lunch is on the menu for thousands of Novocastrians and Hunter residents this month, with Oporto celebrating Dia de Portugal by giving away thousands of its famous flame-grilled chicken meals across Australia.
For one day in June, the Portuguese-inspired fast food chain will hand out 15,000 free Portuguese Flame Grilled Quarter Chicken and Chips meals to Flame Rewards members nationwide.
The giveaway marks the brand’s annual Dia de Portugal celebrations, a tradition that pays tribute to Oporto’s roots and the flavours that have made it a household name since arriving in Australia in 1986.
The promotion comes at a time when many households are feeling the pressure of rising living costs, with the brand embracing the Portuguese tradition of generosity, sharing food and bringing people together.
It’s a simple offer with a big appeal: turn up, be a loyalty member and score a free lunch while stocks last.
Across Newcastle and the Hunter, participating stores are expected to be busy as customers line up for the chance to claim one of the giveaways.
Locations taking part include Boolaroo, Cameron Park, Cessnock, Charlestown Square, Green Hills, Gateshead, Heatherbrae, Huntlee, Kotara, Lambton, Mayfield and Rutherford, among others.
Those who miss out on the free chicken and chips won’t leave empty-handed. Oporto is also offering its popular Bondi Burger for just $5 all day, giving customers another reason to stop by and join the celebrations.
The chain’s signature Portuguese-style chicken, basted in flavours ranging from Lemon & Herb to Original Chilli and Extremo Picante, remains at the centre of the event.
The Dia de Portugal giveaway takes place from 12pm on Wednesday 10 June at participating Oporto stores across Newcastle and the Hunter. For more information, visit oporto.com.au.
