For those not in the know, Big Sound is pretty much the annual who’s who of the up and coming artists in the music biz. It’s also a chance for the big wigs and heavy weights of the world to discover and get behind, a whole bunch of untapped talent. Really it’s about the future of Australian music.
All of us here at Newcastle Live know exactly how awesome Novocastrians are, particularly when it comes to making and performing music, but outside recognition is always extra delightful. Two such local acts are now primed and ready to take on the big stage in Brisbane this September, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Everyone’s favourite Newy four piece Introvert have had one hell of a good run, and their inclusion at this year’s Big Sound event is testament to all of their hard work. To name just a few of their recent achievements, the indie-punk kids were named as Triple J Unearthed Feature artists, won the coveted Groovin the Moo support slot, oh and also joined Birds of Tokyo on tour. Like I said, just to name a few.
Soloist Brightness is also capping off a really great first half of 2017 with his inclusion in the showcase event. The local artist will no doubt be performing snippets from his debut album Teething which is set for release on the 30th of this month.
