Newcastle post-punk band dust has just released their latest single, New High, a song that marks another innovative chapter for the rising five-piece group.
Emerging in 2020, dust has built a unique reputation for blending genres and crafting atmospheric soundscapes, inspired by both electronic and post-punk traditions.
The single comes ahead of the band preparing to open for iconic American band Interpol at London’s famed Alexandra Palace.
The song ventures into themes of isolation channelling the influence of artists like Mount Kimbie complete with a driving and moody breakdown.
โItโs about those nights spent lying in a room illuminated by fairy lights, listening to dreamy music like Beach House, or watching the movie Her and feeling a deep sense of melancholy,” songwriter, Justin Teale said.
“Shifting between the warmth of solitude and the desire to move past the more painful aspects of isolation, itโs a reflection of both the comfort and complexity that come with being alone.”
The video, shot by Nikola Jokanovic, features the band biking through familiar city streets, captured under the dusky glow of nightfall.
As they gear up for their UK and European tour with Interpol, dust continues to gain momentum, following previous high-profile appearances supporting Bloc Party on their Australian tour in 2023. New High is available to stream and buy right now. Check it out here.
